The college owes its origin to the public spirited elite of kodungallur who aspired to commemorate the name of the revered poet who, by his translation of the Mahabharatha earned for himself the title 'Kerala Vyasan' .The Kodungallur Kunjikuttan Thampuran Memorial Education Trust,formed by the birth centenary of the poet ,started the college on 1st of July 1965.The college was taken over by the Government with effect from the accademic year 1972-1973 dated may 17th 1972. The college offeres degree courses in Malayalam, History, Mathematics, Zoology, Botony, Applied Physics, Polymer Chemistry and PG course in History.

Started writing poerty in 1047. At the age of 16, turned full time to writing poetry. Started in Sanskrit. Turned to writing poetry in Malayalam under the influence of Venmani Achan and Venmani Mahan.
First book in 1062 (Kavibharatam).
Started two literary movements in Malayalam: Paccha (pure) Malayalam and Purana Translation.
Died in 1088 Makaram 10th (At the age of 49).
